Frequently asked questions

Why does BellBus need my location?

Location is used only to find bus stops and MRT stations near you, and to plan trips that start from your current position. Coordinates are sent to the BellBus server when you make those requests, never tied to a profile, and never shared with advertisers. You can decline location and use the app in search-only mode.

Why aren't my live arrivals updating?

BellBus auto-refreshes arrivals every 10 seconds. If you see stale data: (1) check that your device has internet access, (2) pull down on the home screen to force a refresh, (3) make sure the relevant bus is in service — Singapore buses generally do not run between 00:30 and 05:30. The label "Last bus" or "—" means the last service has already passed.

How do bell reminders work?

When you tap the bell icon on a service, BellBus monitors that service's live ETA and rings a local notification before it reaches your stop. Reminders run on your device using the OS notification system; there is no remote push and no device token leaves the app.

How do I clear my data or delete the device?

Settings → Clear cache wipes downloaded master data and tiles. Settings → Clear local records wipes favorites, search history, pinned trip plans and reminders. Switching to limited mode also revokes the on-device Ed25519 key, leaving the app unable to call the API. See the data-deletion page for full steps.

Does BellBus work on iPad / older devices?

BellBus targets iOS 14 and above and Android 7 (API 24) and above. The app is phone-first; it runs on iPad and Android tablets in compatibility mode.

Where is transit data sourced?

Real-time bus arrivals, route info and MRT data come from LTA DataMall. Map tiles, address autocomplete and routing geometry come from OneMap and SLA datasets. All sources are used under the Singapore Open Data Licence v1.0. BellBus is an independent app and is not endorsed by LTA, SLA or the Singapore Government.
